Both Lorna & Chris care about the environement they live in and what impact they have on it. As such, when they decided to launch The Annexe, it had to be done in the right way.
Much of the furniture has been locally sourced and upcycled to create a warm and welcoming holiday home, but without the cardon footprint associated to buying new.
The holiday home has been fitted with a woodburning stove to reduce the use of oil central heating through the colder months and hopefully in the not too distant future, solar panels and heat pump will be installed to replace the oil fuel boiler.
Suffolk is an extremely dry county and on the Penisular the weather fronts are unusual - it often rains everywhere else locally but not at Shotley. As such they do their best to save water and reduce the use of water on the property. There are water butts fitted around the property which provide water for vegetables and flowers (untill it runs dry) and they encourage vistiors to turn off taps when cleaning teeth & washing up.
In the every day;
We appreciate it is only small but as they say, every little helps.
